The Fishburn home, known as Mountain View,
was built in 1907 as a 42-room mansion
in the Georgian-revival architectural style.
The stately home with landscaped grounds was the residence of Junius B. Fishburn, a prominent Roanoke
publisher, banker and philanthropist. The Fishburn family resided at Mountain View for a half century.
Mr. Fishburn donated the home to the city in 1955
with the stipulation that it be used for recreational purposes. Today, visitors can enjoy the many
community events held at the Mansion.
